The right learning is a key vehicle for development. It aims at helping
people manage in the moment. The issue is to build a ‘culture of
development.’ It can range from making sure emerging talent is given the
right developmental activities; or accelerating development for a high
performer; or support needed to help a successor make the transition; or
seasoned executives given new learning to remain current; or giving others
an off-shore secondment. Self-discovery and ‘learning communities’
also play a part.
